The RETECH Q-AINA project explores, from an applied perspective, the present and future synergies between artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing. The goal is to understand how these two transformative technologies can interact and reinforce each other to accelerate technological development in Catalonia and beyond.
To do so, the project focuses on a concrete use case: the optimization and execution of Catalan language models developed within the AINA project, promoted by the Government of Catalonia through the Secretariat of Digital Policies in collaboration with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC).
Why Qilimanjaro participates
At Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, we believe that quantum computing will not evolve in isolation. Its impact will emerge through integration with existing computational paradigms.
Through Q-AINA, we contribute our expertise in full-stack quantum computing to explore how quantum and quantum-inspired techniques can support AI model compression and execution. This collaboration allows us to:
Validate real use cases where quantum methods may complement classical AI workflows
Strengthen the connection between Catalonia’s AI and quantum ecosystems
Advance practical pathways toward hybrid quantum-AI architectures
The project brings together four key players in the international, national, and regional AI and quantum ecosystems:
Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech (QQT)
Multiverse Computing (MC)
Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) (subcontractor)
Eurecat (EUT) (subcontractor)
Together, the consortium combines complementary deep-tech expertise to demonstrate the value of AI as a transversal layer within the Catalan quantum ecosystem.
Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech (QQT) and Multiverse Computing (MC) participate as SMEs (PIMEs).
